About Psychosynthesis

Psychosynthesis is a form of transpersonal psychology developed by Dr. Roberto Assagioli, who was a contemporary and colleague of both Freud and Jung.  A deep belief in Psychosynthesis is that within each individual lies the potential for healing and personal growth. It is a psychology that aims at empowering the individual to make choices and to deal with life more effectively.

As a holistic psychology Psychosynthesis encourages the integration of various psychological functions and components of the human being such as mind, body, emotions and spirit. It aims at eliminating the conflicts and obstacles, conscious and unconscious, that block the complete and harmonious development of the human personality and the achievement of the individual’s full potential. This way it facilitates the balanced and harmonic development of every aspect of the human being and the integration of all those aspects into an organic synthesis, in a self-aware personality.

As a transpersonal psychology, it stresses the need for communion with “Higher” or “Transpersonal Self”, or achievement of the state of transegoic existence – which is generally not accepted, or is interpreted as a psychological aberration, by other psychology schools.
